Send A Text Message From Another Number
You can spoof a caller id with the technology today, but it’s also possible to send a text message and make it look like it’s coming from another phone number. This is called text message spoofing.
Text message spoofing make it possible to send a text message and make it look like it is being send from another cell phone. The problem is that when someone tries to text that spoofed number back, obviously you won’t get the return text message.

Caller id spoofing and text spoofing is legal, but of course if you are going to send a text message from another number, you cannot use it to commit a crime like fraud. It’s meant for harmless pranks and business.
Law enforcement and bail bondsmen use text message spoofing to try to apprehend suspects.

I just had a friend call and ask if this was possible.
Apparently someone is sending bad text messages and they appear to be coming from his kids number. Kid swears they didn’t send them. They asked me if it was possible to fake who it was sent from.
This proves it can.
Now we have another problem: which kid to believe.
